New York Jets quarterback Sam Darnold was cited as a potential solution to the problems of the Chicago Bears quarterback. But, according to recent reports, perhaps not in the way that many expected.

According to Pat Leonard of New York Daily News, the connection between Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll and Darnold may be an interesting development in Russell Wilson’s commercial rumor.

Carroll is said to have “a high opinion” of Darnold, and the Seahawks may end up negotiating for him if they decide to negotiate with Wilson for, say, an overly desperate Bears team that is running out of options in the quarterback.

“Keep an eye on Seattle for Darnold,” said a source New York Daily News.

There have been tensions between Wilson and Carroll, which has led to commercial speculation. Since then, he’s been warm with the Bears, a team desperate for a quarterback in the franchise, supposedly throwing everything they have at Seahawks trying to land Wilson.

The only thing that may be preventing Seattle from pulling the trigger and negotiating its franchise quarterback is the lack of a quarterback in return. Darnold may end up being the solution, especially since he is someone that Carroll holds in high regard.

“I think he’s really talented, no doubt,” Carroll told reporters about Darnold in December. “He has great moves. He is a true quarterback. He sees things. He makes great plays and throws in difficult situations because of his talent. It’s only a matter of time. Sam is going to be a really big QB. He gave a lot of balls in three years. He has a lot of experience. It will be worth it in the long run. “

We’ll see if that impacts Seattle’s plans to switch Wilson, potentially to Chicago, where things could certainly heat up with Bears running out of options in the quarterback this off-season.
