Ashghari and Spears met on the set of their 2016 video “Slumber Party” and started dating later that year. The couple’s relationship has been well documented on social media.
The actor and personal trainer recently spoke out against Spears’ father, Jamie Spears, after the premiere of Gifts from The New York Times: Framing Britney Spears, a distressing documentary that chronicles the singer’s turbulent rise to fame and long-term tutelage.
“It is now important for people to understand that I have no respect for someone who tries to control our relationship and constantly throwing obstacles in our way. In my opinion, Jamie is a total idiot,” wrote Asghari in his Instagram story. “I will not go into details because I have always respected our privacy, but at the same time I did not come to this country so that I could not express my opinion and freedom.”
On February 8, Ashghari issued a statement to People who offered words of comfort to his girlfriend.
“I have always wanted nothing but the best for my better half and I will continue to support her in her dreams and in creating the future she wants and deserves,” said Asghari. “I am grateful for all the love and support she is receiving from her fans around the world, and I am looking forward to a normal and incredible future together.”
