Analyzing 25 years of data from the Screen Actors Guild Awards winners results in some surprising information about what could happen at this year’s ceremony.
Not only is the best ensemble award at the SAG Awards worth watching on its own, but the list of films nominated in this category can help predict who will take home the individual acting awards. Actors in films nominated for best cast are almost twice as likely to win their individual nominations as an actor.
This year, the individual nominees whose films were also nominated are: the lead actor, Chadwick Boseman (Black Bottom by Ma Rainey) and Steven Yeun (Minari); lead actress Viola Davis (Black Bottom by Ma Rainey); supporting actor Sacha Baron Cohen (The Chicago Trial 7), Boseman (Da 5 Bloods) and Leslie Odom Jr. (One night in miami); and supporting actress Youn Yuh-jung (Minari)
