Sacred Bones announces album created by a baby still in the womb

Do you want to feel old and incomplete? Luca Yupanqui, the daughter of Psychic Ills bassist Elizabeth Hart and Lee Scratch Perry collaborator Iván Diaz Mathé recorded her next debut album while she was literally still in the womb. And no, this is not a joke.

The appropriately titled Sounds of the unborn was made using biosonic MIDI technology connected to Hart’s stomach, transcribing the vibrations of baby Luca’s movements in the womb into a synthesizer sound. Her parents mixed and edited the audio of five hour-long meditation sessions on a complete album, while Luca sat and listened in the studio as a child.

“We did some filming in Super 8 during the recording sessions and then joined artist Victoria Keddie because we love her approach and aesthetics,” says Mathé about the new video for the first track “V4.3 pt. 2. “” She processed the film with analog equipment and created a visual journey that sums up what we felt when creating this album. ” See and hear below.
