Another day, another incomplete news deposit, off the ice, related to the Sabers to reluctantly share.

Pegula Sports and Entertainment quickly released a statement stating that 97 Rock Buffalo morning presenter Rich “Bull” Gaenzler was fired as a presenter at the NHL’s Buffalo Sabers and NLL’s Buffalo Bandits arena after a racist discussion took place on their radio program.

A “Morning Bull” DJ compared how he likes his toast to the skin tones of the famous black women during Wednesday’s podcast. Gaenzler can be heard agreeing and saying “K”, according to WKBW reporter Gilat Melamed, while his co-host speaks.

The full episode of the podcast no longer appears on the 97 Rock website, but ESPN Buffalo Bills reporter Marcel Louis-Jacques saved and shared the 45-second clip on Twitter.

“I can have problems so I attribute them to the attractiveness of the women I find attractive. So I will never go to the Serena Williams level, but I am very comfortable at the Haley Barry level,” said one of the hosts, before another interrupted, asking where Gayle King would rank on his “scale”.

“No, Gayle King is not even on my toaster level.”

Presenters and the radio station started to be hit in the wallet almost immediately after the air talk, with Roswell Park and the Roswell Park Alliance Foundation withdrawing their marketing affiliations with the station, including advertising and sponsorship, according to Melamed.

Co-host Rob Lederman has been discharged from Morning Bull, the parent company of 97 Rock announced.

Pegula S&E statement read, in part: “We are deeply disturbed by the comments made this morning by a co-host on Rich Gaenzler’s radio program. They were unacceptable, inappropriate and there is no place for them in our community.

“The Sabers and Bandits, therefore, made the decision to dismiss him from his duties as our host on the air.”
