Ryzen 5 5600X from AMD is back in stock in the UK

If you’re looking for the best gaming CPU in 2020, you’re in luck, as the AMD Ryzen 5 5600X is finally back in stock at Currys in the UK for the standard price of £ 280.

The six-core Ryzen 5 5600X is easily the standout CPU of AMD’s new crop of Ryzen 5000 processors, offering nearly identical gaming performance in all resolutions like the more expensive Ryzen 7 5800X and Ryzen 9 5900X. It is also slightly faster than Intel’s Core i5-10600K and much more energy efficient to boot. It is a great choice for new PC builders, and is currently my favorite CPU for those who want to upgrade now.

You’ll want to pair it with one of AMD’s B450 or X570-based AM4 motherboards to get the most out of it, but some AM4 400 series motherboards are also compatible with AMD’s new Ryzen 5000 processors after an upgrade. BIOS. If you are upgrading from an existing 400 series motherboard, be sure to check if an update is available for your specific card before getting rid of the old processor. The X570 and B550 motherboards, on the other hand, work with all Ryzen 5000 CPUs as soon as they come out of the box.

Unfortunately, the Ryzen 5 5600X is still practically sold out almost everywhere in the U.S., but stock levels in the UK appear to be slightly better at the moment. In fact, Currys has the best price for the 5600X at the moment, as Scan currently has it for £ 310, while Overclockers UK is even more expensive at £ 320. Better yet, it’s not limited to just a handful of local Currys stores across the world. country, since it is available for online purchase and local pick-up via drive-through because, you know, lockdown and everything.

I should note that Intel is due to launch its 11th generation Rocket Lake CPUs before the end of March this year, so you may prefer to wait and see how they compare before diving. Intel’s 11th Generation Rocket Lake CPUs will finally support the super fast PCIe 4.0 standard when they are released later this year, as will AMD’s Ryzen 5000 chips, making them a much better foundation for a new PC than Comet processors Intel’s 10th Generation Lake. Support for PCIe 4.0 will become increasingly important going forward, and I would not recommend anyone trying to build a PC without it this year.

Meanwhile, AMD’s Ryzen 5 5600X is still an excellent CPU in its own right, and is worth £ 280 if you’re in the middle of building a new PC right now.
