Ryan Reynolds marks Deadpool’s 5th anniversary with letter from ‘Lost’ fans

Ryan Reynolds celebrated the fifth anniversary of the “Deadpool” theatrical release with a hilarious “lost” fan letter that followed Reynolds’ signature as “Merc with a mouth” in response.

“Five years later, I’m still in awe of Deadpool fans,” tweeted Reynolds on Saturday. “Hunter wrote me this letter after #Deadpool left and somehow my reply was never sent. Wait. Mostly.”

In the 2016 letter – addressed to “Dear Mr. Deadpool” – the fan gushes, “I would like to ask, do you have any advice on being tougher like yourself?” and then, of course, ask for an autograph. Oh, and maybe a chance to meet you, “sit down, have a beer and bulls …”

Four years later, Reynolds realized that his response to the fan – named Hunter – was never sent. And Reynolds’ response, unsurprisingly, is hilarious.

“Thank you for all the kind words in your letter,” wrote Reynolds. “I’m feeling really good about how Deadpool has been received so far and, yes, I’m happy that we made our way. Can you imagine if DP was with Disney’s MCU? Hahahahahahah. As for the sequences, there will be many. Wait for them every two years like clockwork! “

It looks like Hunter will be very happy because “Deadpool” is, in fact, coming to the MCU with Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Logelin (“Bob’s Burgers”) scheduled to write the third installment for Reynolds and Marvel Studios.

It will be the first film that Marvel Studios will work in partnership with Reynolds and the “Deadpool” team. The sequel is expected to be classified as censorship to the two previous episodes, which would be a novelty for Marvel Studios.

“Deadpool” is among the most successful Fox IPs that Marvel Studios inherited, along with the “Fantastic Four” and “X-Men” franchises. “Deadpool 2,” released in 2018, grossed $ 785 at the worldwide box office and was the highest grossing film until 2019’s “Joker” reached $ 1.074 billion.

In 2016’s “Deadpool”, Reynolds won over audiences with his sarcastic and destructive jokes that made reference to other superhero films. In a culture of going to the cinema where superheroes are kings, this quality has gained perpetual relevance for the character. Reynolds has taken advantage of this in recent years by tweeting about any blockbuster superhero that has just been released, often with the same meta-humor for which his mutant alter ego is known – to the point where the line between actor and character has become unfocused.
