For the past two days, Chicago Bears fans have been pacing around, wondering what the team would do with general manager Ryan Pace and coach Matt Nagy coming into the off season. It looks like the answer is about to be revealed.
Several reports from Halas Hall indicate that Pace and Nagy will not be fired and are expected to return to the Bears for the 2021 NFL season. The news was first reported as a rumor by The Chicago Tribune’s Brad Biggs and later confirmed by Dan Wiederer, also from Tribune.
The report comes almost 48 hours after the Bears were defeated by the New Orleans Saints 21-9 in the playoffs, their second trip to the postseason in three seasons.
Pace, who has been the team’s general manager since 2015, oversaw just one season in which the team ended up with more than 0.500 since being hired by Bears. He signed Nagy in 2018, who racked up a 28-20 regular season record but trained the team for 0.500 consecutive seasons. Nagy also suffered a series of six consecutive defeats last year.
