Ryan Fitzpatrick is going to Washington.
Everyone’s favorite traveling quarterback, Fitzpatrick and the Washington Football Team, agreed to the terms of a $ 10 million one-year contract with a maximum of $ 12 million, reported Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network.
ESPN broke the news for the first time.
Fitzpatrick is set to play for his ninth NFL team as he heads into his 17th NFL season.
The 38-year-old bearded prodigy will leave Miami, where he started 2020 as a starter and then took second place for newcomer Tua Tagovailoa, although he made his share of relief appearances. Fitzpatrick has spent his last two seasons with the Dolphins and now extends a career that began when he was defeated in the seventh round by the St. Louis Rams in 2005.
In Washington, Fitzpatrick will join Taylor Heinicke and Kyle Allen in coach Ron Rivera’s quarterback room, but the signature indicates that the veteran is the favorite of current NFC East champions.
Although the Washington offensive broke out over a 2020 campaign that ended in the playoffs thanks to being housed in the unfortunate NFC East, the Football Team won with veteran Alex Smith in the center and will have another veteran presence in the most important position with Smith moving.
Fitzpatrick, who will play in the sixth division of his career when he joins the NFC East ranks, brings a high roof and a skyscraper floor to every game, as he dazzles when it’s on and gets confused when it’s off.
Last season, in nine action games, he pitched for 2,091 yards (232 per game), 13 touchdowns and eight interceptions along with a pair of scores and 151 yards on the ground.
It’s a one-year contract and a one-year plan for Washington as a quarterback, as the future quarterback of the club’s franchise is not yet on the list.
However, Fitzpatrick still has a lively arm, vitality in his steps and a history of moving forward in the clutch and propelling his teammates with his approach to leaving everything on the field.
Fitzmagic goes to Washington and brings a beard and a lot of emotion with him.
