The chance to start as a defender was at the top of Ryan Fitzpatrick’s list of things he was looking for at the free agency and he found it on the Washington Football Team.
During an appearance at 106.7 The Fan on Thursday, Fitzpatrick said it was not the only attractive thing about signing with the team. Fitzpatrick said “there are more things I like” about their attack than what the Dolphins drove last year and is impressed with what coach Ron Rivera has built since he was hired last year.
“The number one thing I was looking for at the free agency was just a chance to play, a place that would allow me to compete to be the guy,” said Fitzpatrick, via NBCSportsWashington.com. “When I started to decline, I think that only Coach Rivera, the culture that is being created, the youthful energy in the building, the playoffs last year – it was 7-9, but it was playoffs and I think this team, there is a lot of optimism there is a good juju in the building. So, I think many of these things are taken into account. “
If adding a little Fitzmagic to that good juju is worth another trip to the playoffs, Fitzpatrick is unlikely to be the last free agent attracted to what Rivera is doing in Washington.
