Ryan Day is not interested in any job other than Ohio
Ohio State coach Ryan Day is happy to stay put.
Despite recent rumors that the NFL teams will be aiming for Day to make the leap to the NFL, Day is happy in Ohio. He’s not going anywhere. Day, who signed a contract extension with the Buckeyes in February, has had two appearances on the College Football Playoff since taking over from Urban Meyer after the 2018 season. And with a win over Alabama, he could add a national championship to the its growing curriculum.
So the interest of the NFL teams is sure to continue, because Day is very good at training for the NFL teams not to target. But he is not interested in the NFL.
Day is happy in Ohio.
Buckeyes opens as underdog in the national title game
The state of Ohio has already overcome the first hurdle in the college football playoff. Despite being a touchdown underdog, he Buckeyes dismantled a Clemson show that had never beaten the Sugar Bowl semifinals on Friday night, establishing a national title fight with Alabama.
And the same Ohio State team that was outnumbered to Clemson on Friday night opened with 7.5 points in the national title game against Crimson Tide, according to the folks at VegasInsider.com.
Ohio State is 4-3 against the spread this season. The Buckeyes are 2-3 in their last five games against the spread. Alabama is 8-4 against the spread this season. Crimson Tide was unable to cover the record spread in their College Football Playoff semifinal match against No. 4 Notre Dame. The Buckeyes are 10-1 under Ryan Day against teams ranked directly. The only loss was to Clemson last year in the CFP semifinal.
Ohio State won its last fight against Alabama in the 2015 College Football Playoff semifinal at the Sugar Bowl. Ohio State has 3-2 of all time against the spread in the college football playoff. The total for the dispute for the national title is fixed at 75.5. The total hit the under in three of the Buckeyes five College Football Playoff games of all time.
Buckeyes makes another major commitment for 2022
Just two months after receiving an offer from the state of Ohio, Jacksonville (Florida), Robert E. Lee High School’s 5-star cornerback Jaheim Singletary committed to the Buckeyes on Saturday, just a day after the state of Ohio defeated Clemson to get to the game for the national title.
The Buckeyes won their pledge to Florida, Georgia and Clemson, schools that were in the last four schools trying to win over the impressive young talent.
Singletary has excellent ball skills – proven by the jumping and diving interceptions shown in his featured film – but what really made him a high priority for the country’s elite programs is his attack mentality on the field.
With Singletary in the class, the Buckeyes now have 10 appointments. Six of them are ranked among the top 65 players in the country. Jaheim Singletary joins Quinn Ewers and Caleb Burton as 5-star compound engagements. This trio, along with Tegra Tshabola, Bennett Christian, Benji Gosnell, Gabe Powers, CJ Hicks and Brown, gave Ohio State more verbality in 2022 than any other program and very healthy starting leadership as the best class in the country in this cycle.
