Russo Brothers directed ‘Fortnite’, chapter 2, season 6 opening

Anthony and Joe Russo are big fans of “Fortnite” – and the filmmakers, known for their blockbuster Marvel films, teamed up with Epic Games to direct the cinematic debut of the popular game Battle Royale.

Epic released “Fortnite” on Chapter 2 Season 6: Primal, which the company says is the most story-based event ever produced for the game.

Anthony and Joe Russo, in a statement provided to Variety, said: “It has been great to work with the Epic team. Fortnite occupies a unique place in pop culture, and we think Donald Mustard [Epic’s chief creative officer] is a visionary storyteller who continues to take us into uncharted territory. “

The duo is behind major Marvel films, including “Avengers: Infinity War” and “Avengers: Endgame” and recently directed “Cherry” for Apple TV Plus.

Epic’s Mustard said the Russians and their team worked with the game’s developers to write, storyboard and direct not only the cinematic opening, but also much of the character’s configuration in Chapter 2, Season 6, which hasn’t yet been revealed.

“The Zero Crisis Finale is a defining moment for what lies ahead in the island’s evolving experience and Chapter 2 of the game,” said Mustard. “When we were planning the story for seasons 5 and 6, we wanted to tell it in a really authentic and character-oriented way, and we knew that there was no one better to help us do that than the Russians.”

The three-minute film introduction of the Russo Brothers shows Agent Jones descending to the island and then battling various characters – from different worlds of history – in an attempt to reach a huge, glowing orb. In the end, he is found by a cyborg-like character, the Foundation, who agrees to help him on his mission.

It is not the first time that Epic and the Russo Brothers have collaborated. In 2018, they contacted Epic’s Mustard and proposed the idea for the crossover event “Fortnite” – “Infinity War”.

The new opening of the “Fortnite” season is a solo mission event, allowing you to play through Agent Jones’s mission in Zero Crisis Finale. The new season begins right after Chapter 2, Season 5, in which Agent Jones brought the best hunters from a variety of realities – including Mandalorian, Ripley and Xenomorph from “Alien”, Predator, Michonne and Daryl from “The Walking Dead “and others – to the island to prevent anyone from escaping the Loop.

Here is the setup: In Chapter 2, Season 6 of the game, reality collapsed in the process of containing Ground Zero, resulting in a Primitive biome where modern ways of life no longer exist. In the middle of the “Fortnite” map is an imposing stone tower and a new stucco village around it, in addition to other primary points of interest like Boney Burbs and Colossal Crops.

For the first time, animals appear on the island, including frogs, chickens, wolves and wild boars. In the new season, players can use interactive items to create improvised weapons. In addition, Epic Games says that at some point the Brazilian soccer star Neymar will make an appearance.
