Russell Wilson ‘would be happy’ to accept trade with Chicago Bears

The Chicago Bears is not a franchise known for a big, or even solid, quarterback game. So when there is a rumor that one of the NFL’s star quarterbacks would consider a move to Chicago – even if it’s not likely – it’s an exciting thought.

Although Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson did not formally request a negotiation, that did not stop speculation from running wild. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Wilson “would be happy” to accept an exchange with the Bears.

“If the Bears struck a deal with the Seahawks, Russel Wilson would gladly accept his papers to go to Windy City,” Schefter told the Waddle and Silvy Show.

With the jobs of general manager Ryan Pace and coach Matt Nagy at stake in 2021, Chicago has been quite active in the quarterback market this off-season. Pace and Nagy are probably not going to deposit their futures in Mitchell Trubisky or Nick Foles, which is why they are involved in the quarterback’s discussion.

But with Matthew Stafford and Carson Wentz negotiating with new teams, the Bears are running out of options as a quarterback. It doesn’t help that they have the 20th overall choice in the NFL draft, which doesn’t put them in a good position to get a first-rate quarterback prospect.

Although Chicago isn’t exactly the most attractive destination due to Pace and Nagy’s uncertain future, they have the fascination of a dominant defense and some young offensive game makers.

“(Wilson) has the Bears on his list of teams that he would like to go to. I don’t know why, ”said Schefter. “Obviously, he is not happy with the protection of the offensive line in Seattle, he is not happy with the way some of the things were done there, but he is open to going to Chicago.

“I didn’t help him make the list, so I can’t say why the Bears are on it and other teams aren’t. I just know that they are. “

No matter why Wilson has Chicago on his list, all that matters is that they are one of the four teams on the list. Now, Pace, make it happen.
