Russ Martin, a Dallas-Fort Worth radio host who was found dead at his home, police said.

This is a developing story and will be updated.

Frisco police are investigating the death of northern Texas radio host Russ Martin after his body was found at his home earlier on Saturday.

The officers were dispatched around 12:30 pm Saturday to block 6300 on Douglas Avenue, near Lebanon Road and Dallas North Tollway, after a friend of Martin’s who came to see how he was finding him without responding, the police said.

Martin was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The cause of death was not determined, but police said there was no suspicion of a crime. Anyone with information about the incident should call the Frisco police at 972-292-6010.

Martin was the host of The Russ Martin Show on “The Eagle” KEGL-FM (97.1).

“It is with a heavy heart that we announce the death of 97.1 The Eagle’s Russ Martin,” the station said in a written statement. “He will be sorely missed and we send our deepest condolences to his family and friends during this difficult time.”

The station’s regular schedule on Saturday was interrupted on Saturday afternoon to give Martin’s colleagues the opportunity to discuss the news, as well as Martin’s life and career.

“Our friend is gone,” said Dan O’Malley. “We are all still processing this.”

DJ Clo Raborn, who was part of Martin’s show, said he had barely slept since learning that Martin had died.

“I wish there was something we could say to make it better,” Raborn told listeners.

During Saturday’s makeshift program, Martin’s colleagues thanked the Grapevine Police Department for their help in finding and notifying Martin’s mother. They also thanked the Frisco police for their help during the morning.

Martin’s colleagues said the station would plan a proper tribute to Martin in the coming days. They ended an hour of programming by toasting Martin.

Martin’s co-hosts said that while Martin faced some personal difficulties, he worked hard to do good in the community through the foundation of his program. After a shootout in 2016 that left five policemen dead, Martin’s Russ Russ Show Listeners Foundation raised $ 40,000 that was donated to the families of the killed policemen.

O’Malley said that Martin recently donated $ 40,000 to the widow of Mitchell Penton, a Dallas cop who was killed in the line of duty earlier this month.

“I want you to know that,” O’Malley told listeners, describing it as one of Martin’s final acts before his death. “Despite everything that was going on, he managed to get a pen and sign the check.”

In September 2008, a grand jury in Tarrant County issued a misdemeanor assault charge against Martin after his arrest two months earlier, on suspicion of hitting his fiance and brandishing a gun at his Southlake home. The grand jurors refused to arrest him for more serious complaints.

Martin was assaulted at gunpoint in 2015, when three armed men wearing masks confronted him when he arrived at his home in Frisco.

The men arrested Martin in a chair with duct tape and kept him at gunpoint while confiscating valuables, including several firearms. They fled in their 2010 Dodge Challenger, police said.

Those involved in the theft were sentenced to terms ranging from just under 12 years to 62 years in prison.
