Rush Limbaugh exposed the prejudice of the left media before most Americans realized: Larry Elder

The conservative radio icon Rush Limbaugh exposed how the left-wing media was “biased” long before most people noticed, broadcaster Larry Elder said on Thursday.

“One of the many, many, many things he did, of course, was to put the left media on trial,” Elder told Fox & Friends.

Elder said people didn’t realize “how bad the media was” until Rush Limbaugh came along and started shedding light on prejudice.

He said the Washington Post had never published an editorial in favor of a Republican president and that The New York Times had not done so since 1956.

“I remember when Rush Limbaugh became a national, he struck a deal with Florida Citrus Growers to do a commercial to advertise oranges. And he got beaten up and the citrus growers were beaten and they took it off the air soon.”

Elder said it was when “he realized for the first time that people who hate Republicans like Rush Limbaugh not only don’t like them, but they also want to destroy their ability to earn a living”.

Limbaugh, the monumentally influential media icon who transformed radio and politics in his decades behind the microphone, helping to shape the modern Republican Party, died on Wednesday morning at age 70 after a battle with lung cancer.

Elder recalled when Limbaugh was caught up in controversy over a comment on quarterback Donovan McNabb on ESPN.

“He made a comment about Donovan McNabb, the black quarterback, and said something like, people defend him, they want him to succeed. Whether he’s good or bad, irrelevant. They want him to succeed because he’s a black quarterback and he got hammered for it. ”

Elder recalled that some sports writers defended Limbaugh’s statement, arguing that the media is pushing for black defenders to succeed.

“Where was that guy when Rush Limbaugh needed him? That’s what Rush Limbaugh taught us about drive-by media, how biased they are and their influence on the way people vote and think. Huge. He’s an amazing man. “
