Right-wing broadcaster Rush Limbaugh aired on Thursday to dismiss concerns about violence at the U.S. Capitol yesterday, comparing President Donald Trump’s rebels to the country’s founders. “We must be horrified by the protesters. There are a lot of people calling for an end to the violence, ”he said. “Many conservatives, social networks, who say that any violence or aggression is unacceptable regardless of the circumstances. I’m happy that Sam Adams, Thomas Paine, the real guys at the Tea Party, the men at Lexington and Concord, don’t feel that way. Limbaugh also promoted conspiracy theories about “instigators sponsored by Antifa and Democrats” on Capitol Hill and “a coup launched in the office of Barack Obama four years ago” without presenting evidence. Trump awarded Limbaugh the Presidential Medal of Freedom in February 2020.
