RuPaul’s Drag Race is officially arriving in Australia and New Zealand as an eight-part Stan Original series.

RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under will begin production this week, with superstar RuPaul serving as a host alongside Drag Race icon Michelle Visage.

“I can’t wait for everyone to see that the Down Under queens have one of the greatest charisma, uniqueness, courage and talent in the world,” said RuPaul.

“Thanks to Stan and TVNZ for providing a platform for these outrageous drag artists to share their heart, soul and humor,” he added.

Stan’s content director, Nick Forward, said it was time for a local version after the original RuPaul’s Drag Race and its UK adaptation were big hits in Australia.

‘You asked for it, Australia, and now we are bringing you – finally, our own Aussie Drag Race, the new Stan Original Series RuPaul Drag Race Down Under!’ Mr. Forward said.

“The series is already a huge success with our audience, so working now with RuPaul and the entire World of Wonder team to create a local version is beyond emotion.”

In a format similar to the US version, the Stan Original series will see the queens of Australia and New Zealand compete for the title of Australasian’s next drag star.

Along the way, they will be judged by a variety of invited celebrities, who will shade and provide feedback to the queens.

Stan will announce the contestants and the third celebrity judge at a later date.

Speculation has escalated about who will appear on the series after rumors of its production were revealed by the Daily Mail Australia earlier this month.

Cast members include Vanity Faire from Sydney, Felicia Foxx and Coco Jumbo, as well as Scarlett Fever and Sellma Soul from Brisbane.

Jojo Zaho of Newcastle and Karen of Finance, Sabrina and Art Simone of Melbourne are also expected to attend.

RuPaul’s Drag Race is already a huge success in the United States, having received a record 34 Emmy nominations.

He has a total of nine wins, including Excellent Reality Competition Program and Featured Host for a Reality Competition Program.

The format involves drag queens competing for a prize of $ 100,000 participating in various challenges each week.

O British and American versions of RuPaul’s Drag Race are available for broadcast on Stan in Australia.

RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under will debut in Stan later this year.
