So, we are hearing that the Philadelphia Eagles “must negotiate Carson Wentz in the next few days”. But what exactly will the Birds achieve for him?
This is not yet perfectly clear. However, there are some rumors about what a potential commercial Wentz package might look like. And specifically when it comes to the Chicago Bears.
On Saturday morning, Windy City Gridiron contributor Brandon Robinson talked about the Eagles achieving something like a first round choice in 2021 (No. 20), a third round choice in 2022 and Nick Foles in exchange for Wentz.
On Saturday night, 97.5 Natalie Egenolf of The Fanatic shared what she is hearing:
Then Howard Eskin jumped with the following:
Rumors throughout the night in #Eagles QB Carson Wentz trade. Here’s what they told me. Wentz and a draft choice for #Bears for the number 1 choice in the draft, QB Nick Foles and RB Tarik Cohen, who is coming out of ACL injury, but should be ready in September. @SportsRadioWIP

But then Tarik Cohen seemed to deny that he was going anywhere!
Let me clear this up very quickly. I just hung up the phone with my HC and GM, fans that we arrested, don’t worry. people say anything nowadays, man.

So, who knows what is really going on here.
For discussion purposes, let’s say the Eagles it is exchanging Wentz and a choice for Cohen, Nick Foles, and a choice of the first round. How do you feel about this offer?
The first thought that comes to mind is: what is that pick that the Eagles are sending back to Chicago? I saw something about how Philly might be handling her selection for the 2021 runoff for the Bears, essentially moving the Eagles from No. 37 to No. 20. If that’s true, that figure is only worth the equivalent of a runoff. end choose. It is not an ideal return for Wentz. But, hey, maybe that’s not the scenario the Eagles would find themselves in. They may not have to return such a high choice.
Cohen is an interesting inclusion in a package for Wentz. Trading it causes the Bears, who are currently $ 10 million over the limit, to lose $ 2 million in limit space. From the point of view of the eagles, it is not difficult to see why they would be interested in him. Cohen is probably the player the Eagles wanted when they had to settle for Donnel Pumphrey in the 2017 NFL Draft. The 25-year-old is an offensive player in the mold of Darren Sproles and can also return punts. Having worked with Nyheim Hines on the Colts, Nick Sirianni probably wouldn’t mind having a similar player in that mold in Philadelphia and Cohen. It is signed until 2023.
We already wrote some ideas about a possible return for Bellows on Saturday. In short, there are reasons to regain it whether it makes sense or not.
Again, these terms have not been officially finalized yet. And maybe it’s not even the Bears who end up negotiating for Wentz, although I think that’s likely. I think it won’t be long before we see what happens. In the meantime, we talked about what could take place.
