Although the breaking point for Deshaun Watson came when the Texans didn’t keep him informed of hires this off-season, he shared his frustration with coaches and management after last year DeAndre Hopkins replacement. So, GM Texans Bill O’Brien assured Watson that he would be kept abreast of general decisions in the future, according to Mike Sando, Aaron Reiss and Jason Jenks of The Athletic (subscription required). Watson expressing these concerns after the Hopkins exchange also led to the no-trade clause in his Texas extension. However, the quarterback became even more disillusioned with the franchise as the regular season progressed. After the Texans’ losses accumulated and Cal McNair fired O’Brien, Watson questioned the direction of the team, by The Athletic. Just before Watson signed his extension, he said he “loved” the McNairs, the organization and Houston. Texans insist they are not interested in negotiating Watson, but several teams are interested. And the three-time Pro Bowler showed no indication that he was going to back down.

Here are the latest news from AFC South:

  • Watson’s longtime teammate, JJ Watt, has been on the market for a week. He was connected to some teams, including the Titans. After GM Jon Robinson confirmed that the team had engaged in discussions with Watt, Mike Vrabel – Former Watt defensive coordinator in Houston – discussed the possibility of a signature. “You mentioned JJ Watt, and there will be other veteran players available that we will have discussions about, and we have already talked about JJ Watt”Said Vrabel during a call with season ticket holders. “… There are many things that involve hiring free agents, certainly those who are past 30 or are in the middle of their careers. ”Vrabel was the coach of the Texans linebackers from 2014-16 and DC in 2017. The Titans signed the role of ex-Vrabel Jadeveon Clowney last year, but he’s on the right track for the free agency. And Tennessee’s rush pass needs to be strengthened.
  • Although Matthew Stafford saw the Colts as a possibility during his time in the commercial block, Indianapolis did not offer his first round choice to the 12-year-old Detroit star. Washington and Carolina offered changes in the first round, while the Rams won with their monstrous proposal. The Colts, however, were a little concerned about the 33-year-old defender’s level of play and whether it would be worth a large exchange package, notes Stephen Athletic of The Athletic. Frank Reichcom history Carson Wentz undoubtedly, it played a pivotal role for the Colts to bet on the Eagles longtime holder, and the team ended up maintaining their first and second round choices in 2021 in doing so.
  • THE Texans are hiring ex-Lions character coach Dylan Thompson for a similar role, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle tweets. A former UDFA defender who moved to an off-field role in the NFL, Thompson is friends with the former Texans executive vice president Jack Easterbyfrom, Michael David Smith’s notes from Pro Football Talk. His relationship with Easterby helped him get his job in Detroit and previously on the Charleston Southern basketball program.
