This, of course, made fans speculate whether Kevin was leaving the show.
Initially, Yellowstone fans feared that Kelly Reilly and Luke Grimes, who play Beth and Kayce Dutton, were being eliminated from the show after the bombing at the end of season 3. But now, all eyes are on the Dutton patriarch, played by Kevin Costner.
The final moments of the final episode of Season 3, which aired last August, show all three Duttons under attack: a bomb exploded in Beth’s office, armed men broke into Kayce’s office and John was shot while helping someone at the edge of the road. The episode ended without any conclusion, causing fans to fear that some or all of the Duttons would not make it out alive. Despite speculation, it seemed unlikely that any (or all) of these three characters would be killed on the show, especially since it looks like the Duttons are just getting started.
In a recent interview in Good morning new york, Kevin answered the question in question, admitting that he cannot reveal John Dutton’s fate: “I can’t say. There is an ending that you will see, I hope it will be powerful for you.” Continuing, he explained that he likes to “do things and be part of things that have a dramatic arc”. Your advice for Yellowstone Fans: “Just try to enjoy it to the end, if you can.”
This statement did not exactly help to put fans at ease. Shortly thereafter, the Internet exploded with even more speculation that Kevin was leaving the show. Some like this Twitter user, even said they heard a rumor that he might have been fired from Yellowstone. In the weeks leading up to this interview, Gossip Cop reports that there were rumors that the actor was unhappy about having to move his family to Montana to film the fourth season of the show. Kevin’s spokesperson later confirmed to Gossip Cop that the actor is “very proud of Yellowstone, “and these rumors are not true.
Even when Good Housekeeping reached Kevin in the middle of Yellowstone season 3, he confirmed that he was ready to start work on season four. He even shared a photo of himself on Instagram during the filming of Season 4 in October.
He did, however, mention that the next season would be more difficult for him, as he would be away from his family for long periods of time. “It keeps me away from home. I go home whenever I can,” he said. “But this year, we are shooting exclusively in Montana, which makes it almost impossible to go home.”
Still, we think Yellowstone fans can be sure that Kevin is here to stay! Let’s hope John Dutton can make it through all six seasons of the series.
