Rumor: Smash Ultimate Fans Think Fighters Pass Vol. 2 may receive a seventh bonus character

Would we be getting a bonus fighter as a last surprise?

It looks like it’s been a while since the last time we sat down and mulled over a Super Smash Bros. rumor. Ultimate – probably because most who find their way to the internet are completely false nonsense – but here’s one that it could just have something in your favor.

A Reddit user known by the name of RiuBert theorized that the game’s second batch of DLC, the ‘Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Fighters Pass Vol. 2 ‘, you may well be getting a seventh bonus character on top of the six slots that have already been promised.

As RiuBert explains in his post, all games, DLCs and product packages have a unique code (known as NSUID) on Nintendo’s official website. With the first set of DLC characters, from Piranha Plant to the final addition of the first Fighters Pass, Byleth, the DLC codes are ordered chronologically from 70050000008501 to 70050000008506. Next comes the Rex Mii bonus costume offered to those who purchase the first Fighters Pass, ending in ‘8507’.

(As a warning, these links will take you to the Nintendo website in New Zealand, where NSUID codes are usefully displayed in the page’s URL).

Now, things get a little more interesting when we look at Fighters Pass Vol. 2. As before, fighters are listed chronologically (Min Min is 70050000018967, up to Pyra / Mythra at 70050000018970, with ‘18971’ and ‘18972’ reserved for two unannounced characters). This time, however, the bonus reward for the ‘Old Helmet + Outfit Pass is not listed directly afterwards, having an NSUID of 70050000018974, instead of ending with’ 18973 ‘. Instead, this mysterious ‘18973’ is “currently unavailable”. Are you still with us?

It seems, then, that Nintendo still has something to be announced after the sixth DLC fighter. Immediate and overexcited thoughts jump to a potential seventh fighter, which could very well be true, although it could also relate to an echo fighter, another bonus fantasy or something else entirely.

What do you think? Is there anything about that? Can you see Nintendo pulling a surprise character to end things with a bang? Let’s avoid having too many hopes also a lot in the comments below.
