A new report on the supply chain of Macotakara this weekend, it says that Apple has a new AirPods Pro and a new iPhone SE in preparation for launch in April 2021. The report says that the new AirPods Pro will feature a redesigned charging case, but the details of the iPhone SE are not clear.
AirPods Pro 2
The repot cites Chinese sources in the supply chain and says the second generation AirPods Pro will introduce a “new design for the charging case”. The will remain 21 mm thick, while it will be 46 mm high and 54 mm wide. For comparison, the current AirPods Pro charging case measures 45.2 mm in height and 60.6 mm in width, so that would mean that the second generation case would indeed be different, but not drastically.
There are no other details on what to expect from the second generation AirPods Pro in this report. Previously, Bloomberg reported that the second generation AirPods Pro would feature a “more compact” design that removes the stem that the chain protrudes from the bottom of the AirPods Pro. the report, comparing the design to Samsung and Amazon offerings.
For those unfamiliar, the Amazon Echo buttons feature a stemless design that is completely round and sits inside the user’s ear.
O Bloomberg The report warned, however, that these design changes are not guaranteed because it is a challenge to pack AirPods Pro internal components in a more compact design. If the Macotakara report is to believe, AirPods Pro 2 may be released in April.
iPhone SE 3
Furthermore, today Macotakara report says that Apple will also launch a new third generation iPhone SE in April. The report does not provide details on what to expect from the iPhone SE 3, but the April launch would come exactly a year after the 4.7-inch iPhone SE was launched in 2020.
Rumors suggest that Apple is working on a larger version of the iPhone SE, probably with a 5.5-inch screen and a design similar to the iPhone 8 Plus. Whether or not that is what today’s report refers to remains to be seen.
