Roundup Rumor: WrestleMania Universal Title Plans, Hall of Fame Changes

Speculating about the rumors surrounding professional wrestling is a favorite pastime for many fans, perhaps second only to watching the games. In this daily column, we take a look at the latest rumors produced by the professional wrestling rumors factory.

Rumors of the day:

  • The Sunday beforeFastlane edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer said he asked his WWE sources if they were planning to run an Edge vs. Title title. Roman Reigns vs. Daniel Bryan Universal Triple Threat at WrestleMania 37, and was informed that it was not. He offered the caveat that plans can change and, based on the PPV finish from the night before, it seems so.
  • Batista was removed from the WWE list for this year’s Hall of Fame. WWE did not officially comment, but a source told the Wrestling Observer, “there have been changes to this year’s Hall of Fame … Batista was one of them.” Dave Bautista is believed to have had a scheduling conflict.
  • WWE Network briefly referred to Daniel Bryan as a “2021 Hall of Fame Inductee” on Saturday. Fightful Select reports that this was a mistake, but combined with its current television angle, it caused a lot of speculation.
  • WrestleMania 37 tickets were nearly sold out within hours of their release on Friday, according to the Observer. Most of what is left is the most expensive on the ground or close to it.
  • The tone for changing RETRIBUTION came from a “high level”, according to Fightful Select.
