Tom Barkin

MARIETTA – The President and CEO of the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond will perform an economic update during the Economic Roundtable of the Ohio Valley webinar at midday on April 13.

Tom Barkin is responsible for the Fed’s monetary policy, banking supervision, payment services and national IT organization. He has held this position since 2018.

Those interested in participating must register in advance online.

Barkin is a voting member in 2021 on the Fed’s main monetary policy body, the Federal Open Market Committee. He serves in the Fifth Fed District of South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, Washington, DC, West Virginia and Maryland.

His involvement in the region drew attention to areas that face economic challenges.

Prior to joining the Richmond Fed, Barkin was a senior partner and CFO at McKinsey & Co., a worldwide management consulting firm, where he also oversaw McKinsey’s offices in the southern United States. He served on the Atlanta Fed board of directors from 2009 to 2014 and was chairman of the board from 2013 to 2014.

Barkin earned his bachelor’s, MBA and law degrees from Harvard University.

The Economic Roundtable of the Ohio Valley is an apolitical and non-partisan educational organization formed in 1982 as a result of collaboration between Marietta College’s Department of Economics and Business and a mix of business, civic and educational leaders.
