Rory McIlroy will wear red shirt and black pants in honor of Tiger Woods

Tiger Woods’ terrible car accident is the biggest story in the golf world at the moment, and his presence will be felt during the final round of the WGC-Workday Championship in Florida.

In honor of the golf legend, whose career may be in jeopardy due to extensive injuries to his right leg and ankle, several golfers said they would wear red shirts and black pants during the final round of the tournament on Sunday.

The wardrobe is a tribute to the characteristic Woods costume worn on Sundays, one of golf’s most iconic looks.

Rory McIlroy, who said Woods’ recovery was more important than golf on Thursday, seemed to lead the charge:

Other golfers who have committed to wearing the outfit include Patrick Reed, who won the event last year and was the leader of 54 holes Collin Morikawa. Golf legend Annika Sorenstam will also be wearing red and black during the LPGA Gainbrige tournament.

Third place in the world, Justin Thomas revealed on Twitter that he would do the same, with a red striped shirt.

That will almost certainly not be the end of the list at a golf course that almost universally grew up idolizing Woods, 45, who won the event in question a record seven times.

Other players will pay tribute to Woods through balls marked “Tiger” during the round:

One golfer who will not wear the outfit is Max Homa, who is currently 19th at The Concession Golf Club in Bradenton, Florida. Homa won last week’s Genesis Invitational, an event organized by Woods.

Homa endorsed the idea, but said he did not have the necessary clothes available.
