Rory McIlroy — one of Tiger Woods‘best friends on the PGA Tour – says Tiger is “better” after his terrible car accident … and could be discharged from the hospital in the next week or so.
McIlroy made the revelation about “The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon“on Tuesday … saying he has spoken to Tiger since the 45-year-old was seriously injured in a rollover accident on February 23 – and is receiving positive news from the golf legend.
“He’s doing better,” Rory told Fallon … “Hopefully, if things go well in the next week or so, he’ll be able to come home and start his recovery at home.”
It would be great news for Woods … Tiger’s right leg was severely broken in the accident – requiring several procedures to correct the problems since then.
McIlroy, however, said Woods had been in a good mood during his recovery … even sending encouragement to Rory – and even some friendly conversations – about his performance at the Arnold Palmer Invitational in Florida last weekend.
“Even from the hospital bed,” said McIlroy with a smile, “he’s still giving me warmth.”
Tiger hasn’t spoken publicly since February 28 – when he thanked professional golfers, including McIlory, who paid tribute to him wearing red and black during his rounds.
“I just think we all wish him a speedy recovery right now,” added McIlroy.
