Psyonix, the team behind the immensely popular Rocket League, announced a new game called Rocket League Sideswipe, and will come to iOS and Android later this year.

The new stand-alone title adapts the formula you made Rocket League a worldwide sensation. Instead of a third-person perspective, correspondence unfolds from a side-scrolling view. The rules of the game are still the same: direct the soccer ball to the goal of the opposing team.

“At the Rocket League Sideswipe, players compete from a new perspective on the field in 1v1 or 2v2 matches, ”said Psyonix. “The games will be fast paced, 2-minute matches that you can play with close or distant friends thanks to the online game.”

While Rocket League Sideswipe offers a relatively reduced experience compared to its older brother, Psyonix said the game still offers advanced mechanics, including vehicle customization and an online rating system for competitive games.
