If you are under 65 and are eligible to be vaccinated, but are having trouble getting an appointment, you may have better luck starting tomorrow.
County officials say they will no longer have age-specific clinics.
News Channel 3 spoke to the people in the queue waiting to take their COVID photo. Some told us that it needed a little outside help.
“I was trying to do this online and the site just crashed, my friends actually went on the Internet and called us and did it online for us and talking to us on the phone,” said Glenn Morrison.
Many felt lucky to have one.
Riverside County has prioritized people aged 65 and over at specific coveted vaccination clinics.
“We wanted to make sure it was a fair competition for our seniors, we heard loud and clear that our seniors were having a hard time getting these nominations,” said Shane Reichardt, Senior Public Information Specialist for Riverside County. “We started with 85 and once again we start to see these commitments start to decrease a little bit, so we move on to 75 years or more and what we have been doing for the past week or 65 or more years. ”
The move was to help prioritize our most vulnerable community at county clinics. But as of Wednesday, they will not have consultation blocks just for the elderly, making more doses available to anyone in phase 1 A and phase 1 B level 1, which includes health workers, farm workers and emergency services.
“We are seeing more offers, it is a great relief. We want to see that the supply continues to increase so that we can pass through all residents of Riverside County, ”said Reichardt.
We asked about the elderly who are still waiting for the second dose.
“Although we are opening our vaccination to these layers of phases, those looking for a second dose will still receive their second dose, we have to make sure we have the supply in hand,” said Reichardt.
The county confirmed that it managed to ship the Modern vaccine, which has been delayed due to weather problems across the country.
