The county made 3,900 consultations available on Thursday at noon. However, when residents went to sign up, many found a blank code page with “error 504”. Others who managed to get on the site filled out the registration form pages and found that the commitments had been completed.

Many people called our newsroom to report these problems. The reaction prompted Riverside County Public Health Officer Dr. Cameron Kaiser to notify residents that the IT department was investigating the problem.

According to the county, the problem was caused by a flaw in the site’s code.

“Residents are understandably frustrated because the nomination website did not work today,” said Juan C. Perez, Interim Executive Director for the County. “Although we worked with our supplier to ensure that it would be operational today, unfortunately it was not. Frankly, this is unacceptable. We apologize for this unfortunate situation and we will soon be directing residents to a new website.”

County officials said a new link will be announced soon for residents to register for COVID-19 vaccines.

Authorities noted that when nominations are opened, the new county website will continue to link to the state’s vaccine registration portal.

“If all appointments are scheduled when completing the state registration, users will not be able to guarantee a time,” says the county statement.
