About 70 Rite Aid stores in New Jersey will begin receiving consultations and administering vaccines on Friday, joining the CVS network as another distribution point for the COVID vaccine.
Rite Aid locations and registration links will be added to the state’s list of vaccine locations starting Friday, Department of Health spokeswoman Nancy Kearney said, although she did not say what time.
You will not be able to register on RiteAid.com, said company spokesman Chris Savarese.
Each store will receive about 100 doses a week to start, he said.
“These allocations will grow over time and complement the existing supply from state and local governments. Rite Aid will supply vaccines in more than half of its locations and expects to supply vaccines in all of its locations as soon as supplies are available, ”he said.
Savarese said Rite Aid pharmacies will receive direct federal funding initially in five states and two jurisdictions: California, Michigan, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Philadelphia and New York.
“Initially, vaccine appointments will still be difficult to schedule at any provider,” said Heyward Donigan, president and chief executive officer of Rite Aid. “However, we hope to see the availability of the vaccine improve over time, and Rite Aid is ready to administer as many vaccines as are allocated quickly, safely and efficiently. ”
The company said it expects demand to continue to significantly exceed supply “in the foreseeable future”.
As more offers become available, Rite Aid will increase the number of stores offering vaccines, the company said.
