Rite Aid launches COVID-19 vaccination programmer in New Jersey

Rite Aid launched its COVID-19 vaccination program in several locations in New Jersey.

There will be 70 Rite Aid locations in New Jersey administering the injections – 100 doses per location.

CVS pharmacies administered their first vaccines on Friday after thousands of people made an appointment on Thursday. CVS had only 25,000 queries available in its first round, so those who missed out might have better luck with Rite Aid.

Rite Aid officials were not available to be interviewed about the launch, but said that 1,160 locations across the country will receive just over 113,000 doses initially. The number of doses received per week afterwards depends on how many the federal government provides.

Anyone who wants an appointment can apply through the Rite Aid online scheduling system. They must indicate their date of birth, occupation, state of residence and whether they have any qualified health problems.

Those who pass will be taken to a list of Rite Aid locations offering the vaccine.

Rite Aid officials say they will add more locations and times as more doses reach stores. Customers should check the website frequently to see when appointments will be available. But officials say there is no specific time or date when more consultations will be free.
