E. Honda’s Street Fighter II the dressing room stage is iconic. On the back wall, there is a mural with Mount Fuji, a kabuki actorand the design of the Rising Sun. The mountain and the actor are in Capcom Arcade Stadiumis relaunched, but the ray design is not.

But as a Twitter user Pomegd (through Hachima) points out, the design of the Rising Sun was eliminated at the Capcom Arcade Stadium.

This should not come as a big surprise. While the rising sun outside the center may still be the official flag of the Japanese Navy, the project is controversial, especially in Asia, as it was piloted by Imperial Japan. Capcom seems to have decided that it would be better not to offend members of the international gaming community.

In recent years, whenever design has appeared in the popular media, it has generated controversy. For example, when a character wore a shirt of the Rising Sun Bohemian Rhapsody, the outcry led to your digital removal, While PUBGcreators of had to apologize after launching a package of items that seemed to use the same images.

Previously, the beam design was removed in Street Fighter V: Arcade edition, but the sun remained. This appeared to be a fair compromise, done with good taste, while its last iteration looks somewhat asymmetric.

This is not the only change in Capcom Arcade Stadium. As Pomegd also points out, the flag of Hong Kong fighter Fei Long and now the People’s Republic of China instead of any of the city’s regionals as in 2018 Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection or, as in previous versions of the game, the British flag of Hong Kong. Pomegd notes that Zangief still has the hammer and sickle of the USSR.
