Riot wants to add non-Mythic League items to ‘fill in some gaps’, including anti-dive Enchanter and anti-split tank items

While the Riot developers have completely revised the League of Legends item system this year, they are not yet ready.

Game director Andrei “Meddler” van Roon discussed the state of the game in today’s “lol pls” video, focusing on the new item system that made its debut in season 11. And Riot is thinking of adding some non-mythical items to “fill in some gaps. “

“Some examples of this are an Enchanter item that we are testing and that was made to be good against heavy diving or anti-carry teams or a tank item designed to combat split pusher so that even if you are not a splitpushing champion able to face a split Trynd or whatever, this is still a good item to resort to in these situations, ”said Meddler.

While season 11 is already in five patches, Riot wants to add more items to complement areas that may be missing. An Enchanter item that is good against diving compositions can help support to protect your AD transport if the opposing team organizes a four-player attack in the bot lane. And tanks getting a separator counter would help to relieve the pressure a little bit, especially if they were losing track.

The aim of the new item system was to offer more options, to create diversity, balance and enthusiasm for new and old players. But such a big undertaking came with some hiccups.

Meddler believes that individual items overshadowed potentially interesting building options, such as Goredrinker and Sunfire Cape. Riot has already dealt with some oppressive outliers this season, such as blast items, Bami’s Cinder gear and systemic healing. And it seems that more goals are underway to improve the state of the game.
