If you’re still saying goodbye to one gloomy year full of blockades and protests, Rick and Morty’s official Twitter account released a short clip of Rick giving various trademark pessimistic reactions.
“New Year,” the account tweeted on New Year’s Day, with a 19-second clip of Rick’s head spinning on a “Rick Boy” screen.
The account also tweeted short Christmas-related clips of Rick and Morty during the holiday, which are equally dark and disturbing.
Rick and Morty’s content can be disappointing for fans impatient for new episodes. Adult Swim renewed the program for 70 episodes in mid-2018 and co-creator Justin Roiland promised that the turnaround for the episodes would be faster. But the fourth season, coming to the end of 2019, continued the program pattern for about two years between seasons.
“We are super excited because, for the first time, we are stuck, we know what the future is, we have job security,” said Roiland in June 2018. “[Co-creator Dan] Harmon is in a great mood, we have a great newsroom. We want the episodes to remain good, but we also want to try to make them a little faster now that we have this big order, I think that gives us the ability to be faster. “
Fans now hope that the interval between seasons 4 and 5 will not be as long. Fortunately, according to Harmon, the coronavirus pandemic did not significantly affect work in season 5. “We are more on schedule than ever,” he said in October.
Season 5 has no release date on Adult Swim yet.
