Richard Sherman is expected to hit the free agent market next month to sign what is likely to be his last contract with the NFL.
The 33-year-old veteran corner told Stephen A. Smith of ESPN that he plans to play two more seasons.
“I just want to play two more [seasons]”Said Sherman.” I want to join a competitive team. I think I still have a lot to give the game. I think I still have a lot I want to achieve and I think I can go out there and help a defense to unite as it should and reach its potential, reach the level that the defenses in which I played reached. “
Sherman played just five games in 2020 due to an injury. Perhaps not the corner that shrank during his All-Pro days in Seattle, Sherman may still be one of the top cornerbacks in the NFL when he is healthy, as evidenced by his 2019 Pro Bowl season.
In a league that always needs tough corners that can stay in space, Sherman must have suitors when he reaches the open market. He must be leaving San Francisco by now.
The 10-year-old plans to leave after the end of the next two seasons.
“After two years, I think I’m going to end it anyway, because I’m sure I’m still going to get calls, I’m sure people still want to see if I’m interested,” said Sherman. “I think two more years and I will be happy where I am.”
After these two years, Sherman will surely receive invitations to work full time in the media world as one of the most articulate students in the game, if this is his next desired destination.
