Retta Ann Ferguson
Retta Ann Ferguson, 83, from Greensburg passed away on January 16, 2021. She was born on February 14, 1937 in Velpen, Indiana, to Lewis and Edna (Jones) Hochmeister. Retta graduated from Huntingburg High School in 1954. She married Irvin R. Ferguson on February 14, 1959 and together they had two children, Tim and Jan. Retta worked for Norbert Schneider Law, the office at Delta Faucet, Union Bank and First Federal throughout her life. She attended the First Christian Church and, through the church, was very active on The Kid’s Closet and helped with funeral meals. She volunteered at DCMH, Ladies Auxiliary and the Lions Club. Retta was very happy when her family was together, she cooked and baked pies.
Survivors include: Husband, Irvin “Fergie” Ferguson; Children, Tim (Belinda) Ferguson, South Carolina and Jan (Brian) Wyatt; Brother, Gordon (Jean) Hochmeister; Grandchildren, Kayla Wyatt, Indianapolis, Erin (Chris) Shaul, South Carolina, Ryan Ferguson, South Carolina; Great-grandson, Levi Shaul; and sister-in-law, Brenda Hochmeister and Kris Hochmeister. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis and Edna Hochmeister; Brothers, Freddy (Rose) Hochmeister, Janice (Don) Blackgrove, Larry Hochmeister and Noble Hochmeister; Nephew, Michael Hochmeister; and Great Niece Erica Hochmeister.
A private funeral will be held at the Gilliland-Howe funeral home on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 and can be seen by friends on the Gilliland-Howe funeral home Facebook page at 10 am. There will be a Public Visitation observing all the requirements of the CDC and wearing masks from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm. The burial will take place at the South Park cemetery. Rev. Ray Sweet will be the official. Instead of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the First Christian Church Scholarship Fund.
