Retailers like Bed Bath & Beyond, Kohl’s and Wayfair stopped selling My Pillow products after CEO Mike Lindell, who supported Trump, made baseless allegations of electoral fraud in the 2020 presidential election.
Driving the news: Lindell told NBC News on Tuesday that retailers called him to say they could face “a boycott” if they didn’t act. But Bed Bath & Beyond and Kohl’s said the decision was related to the lack of demand for My Pillow products.
- Lindell insisted with Fox9 that “leftists” on social media were behind the movements, which he said also resulted in HEB disposing of My Pillow products.
What they are saying: Axios contacted all retailers for comment. Bed Bath & Beyond told the New York Times in a statement, “We have streamlined our range to discontinue a number of underperforming items and brands.”
- Kohl’s told USA Today in a statement: “There has been a decrease in customer demand for MyPillow. We are going to sell our current inventory and not buy additional / future inventory from the brand.”
Of importance: The retailers’ move came a day after Dominion Voting Systems sent Lindell a cease and desist letter because of its spread of misinformation related to the 2020 elections.
