The 8th season of Apex Legends starts in just a few days, and before the full patch notes, Respawn has released some details of what fans can expect.
Season 8, Mayhem, is rapidly approaching to Apex Legends, and many changes are coming. Players are not only getting the new bombing legend, Fuse, but also a heavily redesigned King’s Canyon, a new weapon, legend buffs, changes to the combination and game by rating and more. Here’s everything that developer Respawn Entertainment has released so far before the full patch notes expected for Tuesday or earlier.
As revealed last week, season 8 will bring a new weapon to Apex Legends, the first since the 6th season. This new semi-automatic heavy weapon called Repeater 30-30 fires faster than a longbow, but slower than a G7, with a bullet drop similar to the G7. The 30-30 will also have the ability to charge, similar to the Triple Take choke, and will allow each shot to do about 35% more damage.

Respawn also announced the changes that will reach the ranking. Ranked points (RP) will now be distributed to the top 13 in a match instead of the top 10 and more points will be awarded for deaths and assists, in addition to the time window for assists increased from 7 to 10 seconds. These changes, along with improvements to the ranking combination, are an effort to help players get to the ranking that suits them the fastest. The diamond trails will also return at the end of season 8.
As for the legends, several legends are confirmed to have changes at the beginning or near the beginning of Season 8. As confirmed by Senior Game Designer Daniel Klein, Rampart’s tactical wall will finally have HP during construction, to prevent it from being destroyed so easily . Wraith will receive a nerf, probably in the form of a hitbox fix, a contentious decision that Respawn had to defend due to Wraith’s high win rate and popularity among fans.
Finally, King’s Canyon will be returning, albeit in a heavily overhauled form. ApexThe first map was missing for most of season 7, having been removed due to players’ complaints about balance problems. He now returns as Obliterated King’s Canyon, a result of the Salvo leader ‘s attempt to kill Fuse for betraying the planet by joining the Syndicates Apex Games. The game trailer showed the removal of Slum Lakes and the addition of a new area in the northern area of the map.
There is also growing evidence that the previous version of the Apex Legends will have a surprise launch in February. There are also reports based on dated information that a birthday-themed collection event will be taking place soon to celebrate Apexsecond anniversary of February 4.
Apex Legends is free to play on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series S & X, with Switch and mobile versions in development.
