Respawn confirms caustic nerf coming to Apex Legends in “near future”

Respawn Entertainment brought Apex Legends to virtually all existing platforms, making many wonder if the developers would also add cross-progression to the game. It is not currently available, but that may change.

Since the real battle is now gracing everything from Steam to the Nintendo Switch, cross-progression rescues are becoming more desirable for players with multiple platforms.

Cross-progression allows players to connect their accounts across platforms. This gives people the ability to seamlessly access your unlocked content from one device to the next, and means that you don’t have to start a new account for each one.

The feature was applied in some way to Apex Legends, giving community members a taste of how convenient it could really be in its application.

Apex Legends players have been asking for cross-progression long before migrating to Steam and Switch.

Does Apex Legends cross-progress?

At the moment, Respawn has not found a way to introduce cross progression into his Battle Royale. However, players on the PC do – more or less. If you originally played Apex on Origin, you can link your account to Steam and continue with your progress.

But the same cannot be said for the PlayStation 4/5 and the Xbox console line, nor for the Nintendo Switch. There is no way to transfer your account between these platforms.

Respawn said it was “easier (implement cross-progression) with Steam because it’s at launch”, as opposed to merging saves between Xbox and PlayStation accounts, since “users can have multiple accounts to merge or use”, according with Chad, game director at Respawn Grenier.

This is a stark omission for one of the most popular Battle Royales on the market. Nor is it lost by the developers.

Cross progression is somewhat available on Apex Legends for Steam and Origin.

When will the cross progression reach Apex Legends?

Respawn has touched on the subject on several occasions, and it is becoming increasingly promising that, one day, Apex Legends will cross-progress to make cross-platform switching easier for players.

Following the announcement of the Apex release on the Nintendo Switch on March 9, Apex Legends game director Chad Grenier made an update on the possibility of cross-progression.

“I would never say [cross-progression] it is not possible, but it is certainly more challenging to add cross progression to a game that has been in the air for 2 years. Many people have accounts on multiple platforms and trying to figure out the best way to choose or merge account data is a challenge with many pros and cons. We are certainly looking for a cross progression and it is something that I think would be great for the game, but it is still a long way away, very likely. “

In late November, Respawn Design Director Jason ‘Monsterclip’ McCord responded to a request: “We hear and know that people want this. I want too. We can’t talk about anything that hasn’t been announced, however. “

You can be sure that the Apex Legends developers will look for the best way to widely implement cross-progression across all major platforms, but only time will tell when it will actually happen.
