Republican Senator, Miami Congressman Responds to Capitol Protests

PEMBROKE PARK, Florida – Florida Republican Senator Marco Rubio did not reveal his position on Electoral College certification on Wednesday, but he is speaking on social media about the blockade of the United States Capitol after protesters breached barricades and invaded the Capitol.

His first tweet: “There is nothing patriotic about what is happening at the Capitol,” tweeted Rubio. “This is the style of anti-American anarchy in the third world.”

His last tweet went directly to the president.

“Sir. President: the men and women responsible for law enforcement are under attack. It is crucial that you help restore order by sending resources to help the police and asking those who are doing this to withdraw.”

On Saturday, dozens of protesters gathered in Miami’s West End Park to march to Rubio’s home in West Miami, demanding that he reject the Electoral College totals that show that Joe Biden won the race for president or they will vote for him.

One of the new Miami Republicans in Congress, Carlos Gimenez, also commented on the events that are taking place.
