Deputy Andrew Clyde, R-Ga., Announced on Wednesday a formal appeal of fines by Mayor Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., Which he incurred for refusing to follow metal detector protocols.
“Today, with the help of my private lawyer, I appealed the fines I incurred as a result of my refusal to comply with the unconstitutional placement of magnetometers by Mayor Nancy Pelosi in front of the entrance to the floor of the House of Representatives,” wrote Clyde in a statement.
Clyde said the installation of magnetometers was part of an effort to treat Republican lawmakers “as a threat”.
“The ongoing militarization of the Capitol, including the placement of metal fences, barbed wire and the deployment of National Guard troops, are also part of this perverse strategy,” he wrote.

In a YouTube video, Clyde was concerned that Democrats were paving the way for the introduction of legislation that would create a “litmus test” for anyone who wants to serve in the military or the government.
The Georgia congressman said he had lodged his appeal with the House Ethics Committee.
A spokesman for Pelosi’s office did not return Fox News’s request for comment.

As previously reported by Fox News, Republicans are pressuring Pelosi to pay his own fine for ignoring magnetometers.
A first offense carries a $ 5,000 penalty. But continued non-compliance raises the fine to $ 10,000 for additional violations.
Metal detectors were installed in the House after the January 6 siege of the Capitol and were opposed by some Republicans from the beginning.
