Representatives Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, and Mo Brooks, R-Ala., Explained during an exclusive interview with “Sunday Mornings Futures” why they are leading the effort in the House of Representatives against certifying the results of the presidential election on 6 January.
“The final arbiter here, the control and the final balance is the United States Congress and when something is done unconstitutionally, what happened in several of these states, we have a duty to go ahead and have this debate and have this vote on the day January 6, “Jordan told host Maria Bartiromo on Sunday.
Jordan and Brooks appeared on “Sunday Morning Futures” hours after House Republicans held a rare teleconference on Saturday night to address their goal of overturning Electoral College results in certain states on Wednesday, Brooks told Fox News.
Brooks said 50 lawmakers, including Jordan, President Trump and the White House chief of staff, Mark Meadows, were on the call. He added that members on the call reflect only “a few” of congressmen who pledged to challenge the results of the Electoral College, which favored Democrat Joe Biden.
For an objection to be considered, it must be endorsed by at least one senator and one representative, which seems more likely, as a dozen senators spoke out publicly on Saturday after Senator Josh Hawley’s announcement, R-Mo., That he would oppose the Pennsylvania results.
Senators announced on Saturday that they would object, unless a 10-day emergency audit was conducted to review allegations of electoral fraud by an electoral commission.
After an endorsed objection, the House and Senate would be forced to suspend their joint session and split up to debate the objections for two hours.
The Chamber and the Senate would then need to vote on the certification of the results; objections must maintain a simple majority, otherwise they will be dismissed and the existing results finalized.
On Sunday, Brooks said he plans to object to six states – Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Georgia, Arizona and Nevada – saying that some of the states “have clearly violated Article I, Section 4 of the United States Constitution, the electoral clause that confers powers the supreme authority of the United States Congress and then the secondary authority of the legislature to define the times, places and form of the elections. ”
“Pennsylvania, Michigan, Georgia, Wisconsin have clearly violated Article I, Section 4, so we can ratify it with our votes, this illegal conduct, or we can oppose it,” he continued. “I object to the violation of the United States Constitution, federal statutes and state statutes.”
Brooks said he saw “overwhelming and convincing” evidence that there was fraud and cited Nevada as an example.
Brooks said that while Biden “supposedly prevailed by 33,000 votes over or under,” there were tens of thousands of “illegal votes” identified, including thousands of non-citizens and individuals who allegedly voted twice.
“You have people who supposedly live in an address that doesn’t exist, people who supposedly live in a business address where, of course, nobody lives, there are dead people voting,” said Brooks, adding that if all those votes, of which he is “quite confident” were overwhelmingly for Biden, removed from the equation, “Trump took Nevada”.
“And then you have the massive violation of Article I, Section 4, where voting by mail is not allowed,” added Brooks. “Congress, according to its powers in Article I, Section 4, establishes a fourth election day, which is a 24-hour window.”
“We have made exceptions for certain absentee voting purposes, people abroad, people with disabilities, whatever you want, but this postal voting scheme, which directly violates Article I, Section 4, which directly violates the statutes of the Congress of States United, these are illegal votes. ”
Republican allegations of widespread electoral fraud that could nullify election results so far have not been proven in court or tried by state and local election officials.
The move to overturn the results of the Electoral College in some states also caused a division within the Republican Party, with several Republican senators condemning the action on Saturday.
Senator Mitt Romney, R-Utah, criticized the president throughout his term and called the Republican senators’ plan to reject the results of the Electoral College a “blatant maneuver”.
Senator Pat Toomey, R-Pa., Also condemned the movement in defending the integrity of his state’s electoral responsibility, saying that Trump’s loss was “explained by the decline in suburban support”.

Trump has repeatedly stated that the election was fraudulent, although former attorney general William Barr announced that the Justice Department was unable to find evidence to support widespread electoral fraud.
The Supreme Court dismissed two lawsuits led by the Trump campaign, and more than 50 cases were dismissed in lower courts across the country.
Jordan told Bartiromo on Sunday that he believes Democrats want “the chaos and confusion created by postal voting” because “they would win the election after the election”.

“Several of these states have done this [counting votes] unconstitutionally. That is at the heart of our argument, “added Jordan.” So, we’re going to have the debate on Wednesday, we’re going to show the American people what happened, they didn’t have that, there were no hearings. ”
“We have called for hearings and investigations in Congress, [House Judiciary Committee Chairman] Jerry Nadler and [Oversight Committee] President [Carolyn] Maloney is not going to hold them here in the United States House of Representatives, so we have to have this debate on January 6, this Wednesday, so that the American people see what has been done unconstitutionally, ”he continued.
