Representative Kinzinger strikes Trump, a Republican House colleague for denying defeat in the elections: ‘It’s sad’

Congressman Adam Kinzinger on Saturday called on President Trump and House Republicans who support his “crazy conspiracies” and denials that he lost the election to President-elect Joe Biden.

The Illinois Republican has especially targeted Trump’s accusations that the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the FBI “should be ashamed” for not joining him to question the results of the 2020 presidential election.

“My God. Trying to burn the place down because you can’t stand to lose,” Kinzinger tweeted. “No evidence, nothing but your tantrum and crazy conspiracies. Embarrassing. #RestoreOurGOP. “

Kinzinger, an Air Force veteran who served in Congress for 10 years, criticized his Republican colleagues for trying to force a debate on electoral fraud on January 6, when Congress must certify the victory of Biden’s electoral college, accusing them of just try to raise money.

“All this talk about January 6, @realDonaldTrump and other con artists in Congress are simply explained: they will raise money and gain followers by blaming everyone else knowing full well that they can’t do anything, “tweeted Kinzinger.” It is sad and a total scam. “

Kinzinger received support from Michigan Representative Paul Mitchell, who is “defiant“with the GOP on Trump’s ongoing electoral fraud allegations.

“It’s a stroke of epic scale – hundreds of millions raised,” Mitchell tweeted about Trump’s ongoing fundraising. “And if you look at the fine print – little goes to @realDonaldTrump Most cool fund for your new cap. And a non-profit organization was formed to employ others from its lackeys. SCAMS! “

In the meantime, an increasing number of members of the Republican Party Congress intend to oppose the certification of Biden’s victory on January 6, according to elected MP Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga.

The long-shot effort is aimed at forcing a protracted debate about electoral fraud and addressing concerns of the base who believe, without evidence, that the election has been stolen.

THE TRUMP CAMPAIGN PERSISTS WITH ELECTION CHALLENGES LESS THAN 2 WEEKS FROM JAN KEY. 6 DATE

Congressional rules require a member of the House and a senator to simultaneously challenge a state’s electoral ticket when they meet on January 6. Greene said that some senators are on board, although she declined to name them publicly.

The group plans to oppose voters from at least six states – Michigan, Georiga, Arizona, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Nevada – all states that Biden has held. This could force a two-hour debate on the results of the elections in each of those states and then a vote on the acceptance of that state’s electoral ballot.

Republicans who do not support the effort will face consequences at the polls, Greene said.

“Anyone who doesn’t board to stand up to a stolen election and defend the people’s votes will have to respond to their voters in 2022,” Greene, a hardline Trump supporter, told Fox News on Saturday.

“What most Republicans who have held positions for a long time do not realize is that over the past four years, Republican voters have become loyal to Trump and the ‘America first’ agenda. These Republicans will find themselves in a new reality in the next cycle. “

She encouraged her colleagues to examine the evidence they plan to present on voting irregularities in these undecided states. To date, there has been no evidence produced by the Trump campaign of any systematic fraud that could nullify the election results.

“The Republican base is now fragmented and the vast majority are loyal to the leader who defends the people and puts Americans first,” said Greene. “This is what the Americans wanted for a long time. And that leader is President Donald John Trump.”

ANDREW MCCARTHY: TRUMP EFFORT TO REVERSE BIDEN’S VICTORY IN THE SUPREME COURT IS FATALLY FAILED

Trump has repeatedly claimed that he beat Biden and claims that there has been widespread electoral fraud. But the states maintained their results and the courts rejected Trump’s legal claims in dozens of cases. Attorney General William Barr, who has since stepped down, said last month that his Department of Justice had not seen fraud in the type of scale that could turn the election around.

In addition to winning the Electoral College vote from 306 to 232, Biden won the popular vote by more than 7 million votes.
