The Pittsburgh Steelers have two new candidates for the position of offensive coordinator after Randy Fichtner’s resignation at the end of the season.
Per multiple reports, Steelers interviewed former Cleveland Browns coach Hue Jackson for the job earlier this week. In addition, the Steelers are interested in Los Angeles Chargers quarterback coach Pep Hamilton for the post, according to Gerry Dulac of Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
Hamilton has an appointment for a job on Friday.
Jackson and Hamilton join Steelers quarterback coach Matt Canada as candidates for the job. Canada is considered the favorite to replace Fichtner.
The Steelers ended the 2020 season tied 24th in total attack, along with the Philadelphia Eagles, averaging 334.6 yards per game. But the Steelers came in 12th with 26.0 points per game.
Jackson has not been training for the past two years, after briefly serving as Marvin Lewis’ special assistant at the Cincinnati Bengals, after being dismissed by the Browns. Hamilton spent a year with the Chargers after a stint as head coach of the XFL’s DC Defenders.
Canada ended its first season with the Steelers.
