With Washington effectively playing a playoff game on Sunday night, quarterback Alex Smith should be back.

The Washington Football Team believes Smith will be back on Sunday night against the Eagles, having lost the past two weeks due to a calf injury, said Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network.

This is very good news for the football team, as they are 4-1 in games started by Smith this season, 1-5 in games started by Dwayne Haskins and 1-3 in games started by Kyle Allen.

It is not clear who would be the next player if Smith cannot start or end the game. Haskins started yesterday against the Panthers, but was replaced in favor of Taylor Heinicke, who looks likely to move ahead of Haskins on the depth chart this week.

If Washington wins the Eagles on Sunday night, Washington will win NFC East and host a playoff game. If Washington loses, the winner of the Cowboys-Giants game on Sunday afternoon wins NFC East.
