According to a report by John Brice of Football Scoop, Tennessee is losing assistant director of sports performance, Byron Jerideau, to South Carolina.
Jerideau is a former student of South Carolina and worked there for two seasons before joining Jeremy Pruitt’s inaugural team in January 2018.
Brice reports that Jerideau will join the Gamecocks in a similar role, which will leave Tennessee with another vacancy to fill this off-season. Jerideau was considered a critical piece in Tennessee’s off-season development, and he has valuable experience with the defensive line.
Jerideau’s personal biography in Tennessee states: “On a personal level, Jerideau requires equally dedicated efforts from the student-athletes he trains, but he balances this by promoting strong relationships through open and honest communication. His goal is to make the room bodybuilding a successful energy, positive space for student-athletes and their colleagues. “
Jerideau will now return to his former alma mater, where he had a high level of success as a player and staff.
According to UT Sports, “he became a three-year-old football lyricist in South Carolina and stands out as one of the strongest players in the program’s history – crouching 675 pounds and weighing 500 on the bench. Appearances: 2010 Chick Fil The Bowl, 2011 Capital One Bowl (champions) and 2012 Outback Bowl (champions). “
It is unclear when a decision could come about a possible replacement for Jerideau, considering the hiring freeze that Tennessee is subject to. It also depends on whether it is strictly related to field hires. If not, expect Jeremy Pruitt to make a quick move, possibly in a few days.
