Report: Sixers “looking for important moves”, Kyle Lowry, a name to be monitored

This morning, Kevin O’Connor of The Ringer published a story about the teams competing for first place in the Eastern Conference. Among the rumors he shared was this potentially notable nugget about the Sixers:

“The Sixers, meanwhile, can make a major acquisition of their own. League sources say that Philadelphia, which fell short in its bid for Harden, is still looking for big moves to increase its championship chances. The commercial market has yet to take shape in the coming weeks, so the realistic goals are not clear. But one name to be monitored is the Raptors’ guard, Kyle Lowry, a 34-year-old Philadelphia native in the final season of his contract. A veteran perimeter shot maker is the only piece that the Sixers don’t really have, and there aren’t many other players at the Lowry level that are theoretically available. “

This comes in the wake of a similar sentiment recently shared by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski:

What seems clear is that Sixers basketball operations president Daryl Morey is certainly not satisfied with the team’s current roster and its position at the conference. The Sixers are first in the East, yes, but the team has only 5-5 in the last 10 games and now holds only a half game advantage over the scorching Brooklyn Nets.

Morey seems eager to improve the Sixers’ chances in the championship in a significant way, adding a big piece to the team. The only question is whether or not such a player will be available before the NBA trading deadline, March 25.
