Report: Sixers interested in Delon Wright and George Hill

Jason Dumas, an NBA reporter for the Bleacher Report, reported that the Sixers are investigating in the league about two guards: Delon Wright and George Hill. This is the second Sixers commercial rumor we heard last week. Last week, we saw several reports that the Sixers were interested in the great stretch of Sacramento: Nemanja Bjelica.

Combining these two reports shows that Daryl Morey’s interest is in the right place, as the Sixers need a large, reliable bodyguard to make plays. If the Sixers manage to have two types of players in each of these categories, it could improve an already good Sixers team for a post-season race.

Returning to the report in hand, these two guards mentioned earlier would help the Six. Delon Wright is having a career season with the reconstruction of the Detroit Pistons, launched in an early role after Killian Hayes’ first-round pick suffered a lip injury to his hip. Wright is averaging large numbers for the pistons: 10.4 PPG, 4.9 APG, 4.7 RPG and 1.4 SPG. Some would recall that one of their best games of the season was against the Sixers, when Detroit defeated a team without Embiid. Wright posted 28 points, the best of the season, that night.

Looking west, it is no surprise that the Six asked about George Hill. He is a respected veteran who has aged well over time, getting productive numbers from good teams in Cleveland and Milwaukee. Hill was sent through a series of agreements to rebuild the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Hill was having another productive season with Thunder until he recently suffered a thumb injury. Through 14 games, he built a respectable line of statistics of 11.8 PPG, 3.1 APG, 2.1 RPG and 0.9 SPG.

Hill or Wright would bring some much needed moves and scores for the Sixers – who haven’t had those skills lately with an injury from Shake Milton and Tyrese Maxey sailing through their debut season.

Both players earn comparable salaries and have several qualities in different areas. Hill would bring reliable guard defense and perimeter shooting. In fact, he led the NBA by 3 percentage points last season with the Milwaukee Bucks with a sizzling 46 percent behind the arc. Wright, on the other hand, would bring three-level scores to the team. He is best when he cuts to the rim, and has developed a decent kick that defenders must respect.

These trade rumors continue to get louder as we move closer and closer to the March 25 trade deadline.
