Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence will have left shoulder surgery soon, so he will hold his only pre-draft session for scouts, coaches and NFL executives on Friday.

After three years of play that almost certainly made him the first overall choice for the 2021 draft, there seems to be little reason for Lawrence to follow the rules and little reason for teams other than the Jaguars to go to South Carolina for the day. The Jaguars will be there and they will have company.

Albert Breer of SI.com reports that another six teams in the top 10 of the draft will be present. The Jets, Dolphins, Falcons, Eagles, Broncos and Panthers are also scheduled to assist Lawrence. D. Orlando Ledbetter of Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that Falcons coach Arthur Smith and general manager Terry Fontenot will be representing the team.

For Breer, one of the teams said he felt he had to be there to see Lawrence “just in case” something unexpected happened to the Jaguars. This seems unlikely, but preparing for all eventualities is part of the job.
