Report: Seattle Seahawks will not negotiate Russell Wilson, leaving Chicago Bears to hire Andy Dalton

Of the four teams on Russell Wilson’s apparent list of places for which he would waive the no-trade clause, the Chicago Bears was the most aggressive when it came to chasing the Seattle Seahawks quarterback. There have been reports that the Bears would hit hard and expect them to do a home run.

Well, they attacked.

Chicago signed veteran Andy Dalton for a $ 10 million contract for a year and presumably he will be competing, if not the favorite to start. This probably hinted that the Bears were not going to get Wilson, and now ESPN’s Adam Schefter says the Seahawks are not negotiating Russ.

I know there is a “right now”, but I choose to believe the implication is that if Seattle ever negotiates with Wilson, it won’t be this season.

This effectively closes the door on any Wilson trade speculation that you would take on. The Dallas Cowboys re-signed Dak Prescott, the New Orleans Saints gave Taysom Hill a fully nullable $ 140 million contract extension and re-signed Jameis Winston, and the Las Vegas Raiders are dismantling their offensive line as we speak.

Perhaps now we can focus on our own off-season and how the Seahawks can improve a team that already has Wilson, instead of fearing that he will go to another team and make them better.
